The Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile, often simply called the Arc de triomphe, whose construction, decided on by Emperor Napoleon I, began in 1806 and ended in 1836 under Louis-Philippe, is located in Paris. By an imperial decree dated February 18, 1806, Napoleon I ordered the construction of this triumphal arch dedicated to perpetuating the memory of the victories of the French armies.
