Miso soup (misoshiru, in Japanese French, fermented soy broth, shiru (broth), and miso (fermented soy)) is a traditional Japanese cooking recipe, miso-based broth (fermented flavored soybean paste and salted) and dashi (fish broth).
It is, with Japanese rice and suimono soups, one of the basic dishes of the three traditional Japanese meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) available in multiple variations of regional Japanese cuisine.
