Japanese wish doll, DARUMA, red for Luck, Made in Japan
Daruma is the Japanese name for Bodhidharma. The Daruma is a Japanese papier mache figurine in the shape of a Buddhist monk. A Daruma is also, in Japanese culture, a wish figurine.
In Japanese culture, we draw the pupil at first sight by making a wish. If this happens, we draw the second pupil.
Regarding colors:
Red for luck and good fortune,
Purple for health and longevity,
White for harmony,
Yellow for security and protection,
Rose for love,
Gold to obtain wealth and prosperity.
