Terracotta mosquito repellent ornament, BUTA, pig, made in Japan
The Katori Buta also called Kayari Buta is a terracotta pig that is placed on a table or as a decoration, in which mosquito coils or lemongrass are allowed to burn to protect the room in which it is located.
ka (蚊) means "mosquito", to (取) refers to the verb "to take" and buta (豚) designates the word "pig" - literally "the pig which takes the mosquitoes
