The history of Shoyeido dates back to twelve generations of excellence, beginning in the 18th century with Moriyoshi Rokuzaemon HATA, founder of the "SASAYA" store in Tanba-Sasayama, Kyoto. The third generation, represented by Rokubei Moritsune HATA, introduced methods of creating incense learned at the Imperial Palace in Kyoto, blending secret court traditions reserved for royalty. Nearly three centuries later, the Hata family continues this legacy with a variety of unique incense, affirming Shoyeido's position as the world's most natural and highest quality incense supplier.
Today, Shoyeido is present in several “Shoyeido stores” in Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo, Yokohama and Sapporo.
