The Katori Buta also called Kayari Buta is a terracotta pig that is placed on a table or as a decoration, in which anti-mosquito spirals or lemongrass are left to burn to protect the room in which it is located.
ka (蚊) means "mosquito", to (取) refers to the verb "to take" and buta (豚) means the word "pig" - literally "the pig that takes mosquitoes.
